IRS-ready log

What the IRS asks for, recorded as you drive.

IRS Publication 463 asks for timely kept records showing the time, place and business purpose of your travel. OnMiles builds that record during the trip, not from memory later.

The IRS asks forOnMiles records
WhenDate, start and end time of every trip
WhereStart and end addresses, and each stop along the way
How muchMiles measured by GPS, with the route on a map
WhyWork or Personal, and the business purpose you add
Extra costsParking and tolls per trip, deductible on top of the mileage rate
A trip's detail: route, distance, duration, stops and type

Mileage rate

The right IRS rate for every trip.

When the IRS changes the standard mileage rate during the year, OnMiles uses the rate that was in effect on each trip's date, and the report lists the rates it used. You can also set your own rate, for example your employer's reimbursement rate.

Jan 1 – Jun 30, 202672.5¢per business mile
From Jul 1, 202676¢per business mile

How it works

A report in four taps.

  1. Pick a periodA day, month or year, an IRS quarter or tax year, or your own start and end dates.
  2. Pick the reportDetailed or Summary, Expenses, or one of the tax reports.
  3. FilterAll trips, or only Work or Personal. The filter switches instantly, even for a full year.
  4. ExportPDF or CSV, then save, print, email, or send it to your preparer.

Before export

Complete records, less work.

Driver and vehicle details go into every report header. Purpose suggestions and Smart Trips fill in the business context as you go.

After export

You choose the destination.

Reports are created on your phone and shared with the system share sheet. OnMiles never uploads them to its own server. Mileage and expense PDFs show when they were generated.
